Philip McIntosh is a technologist, researcher, and STEM educator. He holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Botany from Southwest Texas State University and a masters in Biological Science from the University of Texas at Austin. After learning machine trades in high school Phil joined the air force to become an aircraft electrician. After honorable discharge he spent 17 years as a maintenance technician and reliability engineer at Carbomedics, Inc., manufacturer of artificial heart valves and related devices. After doing graduate research on cell and molecular biology of fungi and ferric chelate reductase activity on cucumber roots, Phil spent time in the semiconductor industry as a technical writing supervisor before moving from Austin to Colorado where he became a licensed teacher highly qualified in secondary mathematics, science, and CTE-STEM. Phil has many professional publications on diverse topics.

Joel Newmiller holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and considers himself a lifelong learner and teacher. His varied interest have led him on a many paths, including work in embedded systems, community gardens, and many years teaching as community artist.  As a community artist, he has led and facilitated numerous Community Art projects throughout Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, and Pueblo and has presented on community art for several institutions including, USAFA, Colorado College, and Colorado Creative Industries. His personal artwork explores a variety of mediums and subject matter, and he enjoys exploring the intersection of art and science.
